Ann and Dan Visit!

We were delighted to host Ann and Dan, our dearest friends, for a short visit. I think Jacob's face sums up how we all felt about being reunited in Quito with such wonderful people.

We toured around Quito, seeing the usual sites like the Old Town, the Guayasamin museum, and the city overlooks. Ann and I spent a day in Papallacta in the thermal bath and spas, while the guys were working. We spent the weekend in beautiful Mindo for some great birdwatching. With the exception of the boys being up for most of the night - leaving all of us exhausted in the morning - we had a wonderful time. Although you can't tell from the pictures, Ann and Dan were actually in Mindo with us. I'm hoping they'll send their photos quickly so I can update the blog! :)

We look forward to welcoming our amigos back very soon!!

26 plus 11

OK - I've been roundly criticized by a number of people for not updating the blog. A blanket apology to all, and a huge thanks for actually checking it. Since I know that folks look at the blog only to see the boys, I'll just get right to the pictures.

To mark Jacob turning 2y2m and Timothy turning 11m, I had the brilliant idea (read: how cute, but she's clearly still a new mom) of taking a picture of the boys in their animal towels after their evening bath. With our nanny looking at me with a look that read "Could you be this stupid?" Short answer: Yes.

Jacob was delighted at the prospect of being photographed naked in his bear towel; Timothy was appalled at the concept that he would have to sit still in a damp duck towel. Then I thought "Two slippery naked little boys who are overly tired? Probably not the best idea."

Here's what resulted: Jacob giggling, and me taking a picture of Timothy in my arms. (Note he was more interested in the frayed thread than my picture.)

So here are some better photos of our little men in training as they continue to grow up. We went to a lovely outdoor Italian restaurant that has animals for the kids to play with.

We are delighted every day about Jacob and Timothy's new discoveries, thoughts, and actions. They are pure blessings!
