Beach Summer!

We had two glorious weeks at the beach.

The boys LOVED being in the sand 12 hours a day, and we loved watching them. There was lots of playing with shovels, and ultimately they discovered that jumping into a hole in the sand was the best game that they could ever imagine. Papa didn't mind joining in either. There was kayaking (OK - in the lawn) and exploring wildlife (including smacking crabs with sticks).

Ice cream was a major part of our time at the beach, as should be expected.

We took a trip out to see the whales, which was amazing. After an hour of looking and looking, several emerged, following the boats and jumping out of the water. Quite a sight.

We also took a boat trip up the coast to see a wide range of birds, not too far from our place. We thought that the infamous blue-footed booby was only to be found on the Galapagos Islands, but were delighted to see them here as well. (these pictures are coming soon...stay tuned)

We took a daytrip down the coast to a beachtown called Mompiche. We walked on the empty beach, and enjoyed another beautiful serene spot.

Mostly we just enjoyed some great time as a family.
