Some weekends look like this. Smiles, dirty boots, hammocks, and thick foliage.

In our attempt to see every last corner of this beautiful country, we headed back to the rainforest, to a reserve that we hadn’t yet seen, Reserva Maquipucuna. We went with our friends Chris and Amanda, and their little people, Elias and Violeta. What a wonderful treat.

The flora and fauna were amazing.

Plants…

Butterflies…

Birds: Toucans, Rufus Marmuts, and many more...

The kids, and brave adults (Nicole went but was not brave), went swimming in the freezing cold river. Santiago and Amanda, who have spent time in New Englad, said the water wasn’t so cold. Mid-Atlantic Nicole begged to differ.

Breakfast in the great outdoors

There were fun hikes through the rainforest…,

To the waterfall…

To a local “farm” with pigs…

And naturally lots of birdwatching, which was more about the binoculars and “boy time” than anything else.

Lots of fun was had, and a little bit of sleep too.

And my favorite...Birdwatching, of course, sometimes took different forms…
